Gaza Circus School مدرسة سيرك غزة
Ahmed Mushtaha is the founder and director of the Gaza Circus School, an initiative created to bring circus arts, creativity, and moments of joy to children in Gaza. Since its beginnings in 2011, the school has used acrobatics, juggling, gymnastics, clown performances, and entertainment activities to create positive experiences for children and communities. Despite the destruction of the school's facilities and equipment, Ahmed and his team continue their work through performances and community projects. The Colors of Joy project is one of their efforts to bring happiness directly to children through small gifts and community support. أحمد مشتهى هو مؤسس ومدير مدرسة سيرك غزة، وهي مبادرة أُنشئت لتقديم فنون السيرك والإبداع ولحظات الفرح للأطفال في غزة. ومنذ تأسيسها عام 2011، استخدمت المدرسة فنون الأكروبات، والتلاعب بالكرات، والجمباز، وعروض المهرجين والأنشطة الترفيهية لخلق تجارب إيجابية للأطفال والمجتمعات. وعلى الرغم من تدمير مرافق المدرسة ومعداتها، يواصل أحمد وفريقه عملهم من خلال العروض والمشاريع المجتمعية. ويُعد مشروع ألوان الفرح إحدى مبادراتهم لإيصال السعادة مباشرة إلى الأطفال عبر الهدايا الصغيرة والدعم المجتمعي.
Tito The clown! تيتو المهرج!
Muhammad Nayef Salem, better known as “Uncle Tito,” is a Palestinian clown and circus performer from Gaza who has dedicated his work to bringing moments of happiness to children living through extremely difficult circumstances. Salem began performing circus arts at a young age and received training from Italian circus instructors. He earned first-place certificates in both stilt walking and clown performance, developing skills that allowed him to work professionally with children. محمد نايف سالم، المعروف باسم “العم تيتو”، هو مهرج ومؤدٍّ سيركي فلسطيني من غزة كرّس عمله لجلب لحظات السعادة إلى الأطفال الذين يعيشون في ظروف شديدة الصعوبة. بدأ سالم ممارسة فنون السيرك في سن مبكرة، وتلقى تدريبًا على يد مدربين إيطاليين في هذا المجال. وحصل على شهادات المركز الأول في المشي على العصي وأداء المهرجين، مما مكّنه من العمل مع الأطفال بصورة احترافية.
Before the war, Salem performed in schools and kindergartens, where his performances and friendly personality made him popular with children and families. His work became especially meaningful during the war, as he continued using humor, clowning, and performance to create moments of joy for children experiencing displacement, fear, and hardship. قبل الحرب، كان سالم يقدم عروضًا في المدارس ورياض الأطفال، حيث جعل أداؤه وشخصيته الودودة منه محبوبًا لدى الأطفال والعائلات. وأصبح عمله أكثر أهمية خلال الحرب، إذ واصل استخدام الفكاهة وفنون المهرجين والعروض لخلق لحظات من الفرح للأطفال الذين يعيشون النزوح والخوف والمعاناة.
Known affectionately as “Uncle Tito,” Salem represents the important role that entertainers can play during humanitarian crises. His performances provide children with opportunities to laugh, play, and briefly experience something resembling normal childhood. He has also expressed ambitions to continue developing his circus skills and obtain equipment that would allow him to expand his performances. His story illustrates how art and entertainment can become powerful tools for hope, connection, and emotional relief. يُعرف سالم بمحبة باسم “العم تيتو”، وهو يجسّد الدور المهم الذي يمكن للفنانين والمرفّهين أن يؤدوه خلال الأزمات الإنسانية. إذ تمنح عروضه الأطفال فرصة للضحك واللعب واختبار شيء يشبه الطفولة الطبيعية ولو لفترة قصيرة. كما عبّر عن طموحه إلى مواصلة تطوير مهاراته في السيرك والحصول على معدات تتيح له توسيع عروضه. وتوضح قصته كيف يمكن للفن والترفيه أن يصبحا أداتين قويتين للأمل والتواصل والراحة النفسية.
Clown Aloosh المهرج ألووش
Aloosh is a Palestinian clown and performer from Gaza who uses circus arts, humor, and entertainment to bring moments of happiness to children experiencing the hardships of life in the Gaza Strip. He is associated with the Gaza Circus School, an organization focused on clowning, juggling, and circus performance. ألووش هو مهرج ومؤدي فلسطيني من غزة يستخدم فنون السيرك والفكاهة والترفيه لجلب لحظات السعادة إلى الأطفال الذين يواجهون صعوبات الحياة في قطاع غزة. وهو مرتبط بمدرسة غزة للسيرك، وهي مؤسسة تركز على المهرجية والمناولة والتمثيل السيركي.
Aloosh works alongside fellow performer Maroosh and other members of the Gaza Circus School to give children opportunities to laugh, play, and experience moments of normal childhood despite the surrounding violence and displacement. During the conflict, the performers continued their activities in different areas of Gaza, following displaced communities and performing around damaged schools, hospitals, and other locations where children and families were receiving assistance. يعمل ألووش إلى جانب زميله المؤدي ماروش وأعضاء آخرين في مدرسة سيرك غزة، ليمنحوا الأطفال فرصًا للضحك واللعب وتجربة لحظات من الطفولة الطبيعية رغم العنف والنزوح المحيطين بهم. وخلال النزاع، واصل المؤدون أنشطتهم في مناطق مختلفة من غزة، متنقلين مع المجتمعات النازحة، وقدموا عروضهم قرب المدارس والمستشفيات وغيرها من المواقع المتضررة حيث كانت العائلات والأطفال يتلقون المساعدة.
The Gaza Circus School has also maintained connections with international supporters, including CISS (Cooperazione Internazionale Sud Sud), which has helped coordinate and support humanitarian activities involving the performers. Aloosh’s work demonstrates how creative expression can serve a humanitarian purpose. Through comedy and circus performance, he and his fellow performers provide children with moments of joy, connection, and emotional relief during an extremely difficult period.
